Loving Lagny!

Lagny-Sur-Marne has the most amazing market 3 times a week, and once you fight your way through the usual clothes stalls right at the centre is a covered market with all sorts of fruit, veg, meats, cheeses, Oriental produce, choucroute, you name it, its here. Shame its such a long walk from our mooring, I'd need a lift home or failing that, a granny shopping trolley is a must!

The weather is still not our friend, but we had a lovely visit with the Greens, seeing them off late on Saturday afternoon at Lagny station, which is on a direct line to Paris Gare de l'Est, so small hop on the Metro to Gare du Nord and the Eurostar home. Love you guys xxx

Here in Lagny we also see so much more activity on the river; canoes, kayaks, rowers and scullers of all ages, taking advantage of their surroundings and loving it! My favourite sight - a group of kids in kayaks getting out of the way of a huge commercial barge while their teacher rides its bow wave! Brilliant, sorry, no photo!

Activity levels were through the roof at the Club Nautic where we are staying, and our mooring neighbour advised they were having a club evening to which we were all invited as their guests. Numbers reduced from 4 to 2 on our boat, we were delighted to accept. And what a club, what an evening!

The club has a soiree once a month, this one being a couscous evening, and with a great ambiance, good food and plenty of wine, we enjoyed great company with Yannick, Michel, Francis and Pierrou and their wives, as well as 35 or so other boat enthusiasts! Indeed, we have been made so welcome here by everyone, and when we asked about trains to Euro Disney to drop off our hire car when we get back from the south on Thursday morning, Michel put it straight in his diary to be our guide to the drop off and give us a lift home! Mille mercis Michel!

Seriously, boaters out there, Lagny-Sur-Marne is so worth a visit, and while there is a free mooring in town, the Base Nautic is the place to be - amazing facilites and lovely people.

  1. Hi, I used to live in Lagny when working at Euro Dusney, before moving south, it's a lovely little town. I hope you have a lovely adventure on your way South. Catch up with you soon.
    All the best,
    Andy
