A 30 minute journey in flat calm, including two emergency
stops to test the modifications A made to the port engine tick over speed – no
stalls so it looks as though the problem is solved.
The lovely market is a good walk away, and J had to stride
out to make it before they all closed up shop, but we got stocked up. The long
coastal walk is also highly recommended, with some slightly random features,
such as this ‘Customs Door’.
The Capitainerie were already on winter hours,
even though we were paying high season prices, so they said if we needed to
extend our stay we’d be trusted to post an envelope under the door for payment.
In their absence the offices were ruled by a mardy Labrador, who looked like
she meant business, even though she couldn’t catch Roxy to make good on her
threats.
Our
choice of beach bar for a sun downer introduced us to Peter & Petra (sp)
from Holland, and their lovely dog Troy, who were travelling through town in their
camper van. For Roxy it was love at first sight, although Troy was a little
more reserved, and he had mastered the high five trick that Roxy refuses to
perform. We found many parallels between
cruising on a boat and in a camper, including extortionate prices in Monaco
(90€ for a night in a car park for the van?!), but I know we’ve made the right
choice!
Sorry
not to have caught up with Mark, Gilles & Jules while we were in their neck
of the woods, but no doubt we’ll catch you boys in the mountains this winter! X
