After our super long day and late night yesterday we knew
this would not be an early start, but we woke at 8.30 to 4.7°C so it was good
to have our destination of Froncles fixed before a chilly departure. To be fair
the temperature had risen to 6°C by 10.30 when we pushed off – toasty (?!!)
A pretty uneventful day – 11 locks and 3 swing bridges but
we were prepared for the low temperatures after yesterday – ski socks, wet
weather gear (as an extra pair of trousers fits underneath) and thermals as
well as fleeces!!
Froncles (no idea how to pronounce that!) is a great stop – paying,
but loads of space and conveniences with the town nearby – and finally some
possibilities for recycling! We take it for granted in the south, but it seems
less common in the places we’re travelling through. We met some Brit locals who
were full of useful info about the route to come – and have been mooring at
this spot for more than 3 years!! We thought about treating ourselves at the
restaurant nearby but it was a bit too posh for us (Michelin), so quiet night
in after a run to the supermarket – and the Pharmacy as both feeling a bit
under the weather right now.
